Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's circles, 1st grade students used oil pastels to create four versions of the artists masterpiece. We listened to some classical music to help get in the mood-it was so much fun! Each artist put their own twist on the artwork with different colors, sizes, and placement. Every circle was beautiful and original! Oil pastels are so much fun to work with because they are easy to blend, bright and colorful, and really messy. I asked who had the messiest hands (not a good idea to ask 1st graders haha :) anyways we had a lot fun and this was a very successful lesson.
