"Project Artist Chairs" for Casino Night

"Project Artist Chairs" are finished!  These beautiful wooden chairs will be auctioned off at Casino Night, this Friday at SRS.  Piet Mondrian, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Vincent van Gogh, Wassily Kandinksky and Roy Litchenstein's artwork were the inspiration for the student volunteers to create their own version of the artists incredible works.  The girls worked so hard- thank you so much for your time and amazing efforts!  It would be really fun to do this project again in the spring with more used wooden chairs.  We will see...:)

These are fabulous. Wouldn't the whole set look terrific around a round table?!

I agree - fabulous! Was this done in a class or an after school project or what? Where did you get the chairs? And I'm guessing you used acrylic paint? Did you seal them with something?

Thank you Phly! The chairs were done by student volunteers during their lunch/recess for a couple of weeks. It was a very short amount of time but we got it done! After school was too much since they are all involved with after school activities. The chairs were painted with tempera actually and sealed with something from Sherwin Williams (I don't have it in front of me) -it worked really well. On the bench we used Mod-Podge which has worked really well for me in the past. The chairs were found at garage sales or on the side of the road donated by parents. It was such an inexpensive and fun project! I have a ton of students who want to paint a chair! We will see how the silent auction went at "Casino Night" on Monday!
