Paper Mache Snowmen are almost finished!!

4th grade students have been working hard creating their paper mache snowmen.  This has been a long project, but the results are fantastic as you can see! After the paper mache dried, the students painted their snowman white.  We did 2-3 layers to make sure the newspaper was covered completely.  Using air-dry clay, they created arms, nose, hat, and scarf.  A little bit goes a long way- we even had left over clay to make snowflake magnets!  Once attached, (most of the time it just stuck, but occasionally I would hot glue the pieces on to the snowman) we painted the hat and scarf in fun colors as well as a face for the snowman.  Next week, we will mod podge the snowman for a finished look and to keep anything from falling off.  These will make great Christmas gifts or decorations!
